Microsoft has blamed a software error that left hundreds of thousands of owners of their Zune music player unable to play music. An error in the programming relating to the onboard clock meant the machine wouldn't work.
The error is confined to the 30Gb version of the Zune.
Microsoft says a problem with the internal clock in its 30GB Zune players, related to the leap year, caused the widespread device failures reported earlier today. However, the company says the device should fix itself as the clock shifts to Jan. 1.
