Customers of the UK's Nationwide building society who have their salaries paid direct to their accounts by their employers were feeling poor the other day - because their wages didn't arrive. A computer error (which in one comment is being called a problem with a server upgrade) led to the transfers not being processed.
A processing problem has meant that customers with a Flex current account have not received payments that were made to their accounts last night. The glitch affects all Flex account customers, but the mutual said that only a "small number" of customers have been left without cash for New Year's Eve.
Of course, given many banks' apparently magical techniques of extracting fees and charges, some customers posting comments to news web site stories have been suggesting that maybe the bank might like to pay similar fees to customers for the inconvenience.
