A blogging site has been forced to close its doors because they failed to maintain backups of customer data. Journalspace is off the air permanently, and all their users' blogs and data lost.
Turns out they were not backing up the web server that ran the blogging system, relying only on a RAID array of hard drives (using multiple harddrives syncronized). Journalspace is blaming a disgruntled ex-employee who was also their IT person.
A disgruntled member of the Lagomorphics team sabotaged some key servers several months ago after he was caught stealing from the company; as awful as the thought is, we can't rule out the possibility of additional sabotage.
