The failed McCain US presidential campaign had a garage sale the other day, offloading a bunch of office furniture and equipment to try and recoup some of the campaign costs. Amongst the items up for offer were Blackberry phones used by various campaign. All of which is innocuous - nothing wrong with trying to make back some of the bucks spent on the unsuccessful election tilt.
However, it might have been a help if the campaign's IT gurus had erased data from the phones first. A Fox News reporter bought two of the phones, and discovered they were chock full of phone numbers, campaign emails and other information.
"We traced the BlackBerry back
to a staffer who worked for "Citizens for McCain," a group of Democrats
who threw their support behind the Republican nominee. The e-mails
contain an insider's look at how grassroots operations work, full of
scheduling questions and rallying cries for support."
